About Jasbir Singh |
Brig (Retd) Jasbir Singh, SM, took premature retirement in 2004, after serving in the Army for 34 years. He took part in India-Pakistan War, 1971, counter-insurgency operations against hostiles in Nagaland, operations against LTTE in Srilanka and counter-terrorist operations on either side of Pir Panjal Range in J&K. Jasbir has served as Instructor, at IMA (Dehradun), with Govt of Botswana (Southern Africa) & at Defence Services Staff College, Wellington (Nilgiris). He has served in Directorate General of Military Operations (DGMO), Army HQ, New Delhi and has been Security Advisor of Kingdom of Lesotho (Southern Africa), from 2000 to 2003. Jasbir was wounded during operations behind enemy lines in East Pakistan (1971 War) and twice decorated for gallantry during operations. He now leads a retired life in the hills of Ranikhet (Uttarakhand) and spends his time writing on military subjects and painting. He has published two books ('Combat Diary', 'Escape from Singapore') and numerous articles.
When not in Ranikhet, Jasbir can be found at his Farm, in the foothills of Himalayas in Uttarakhand. Here, he does farming and takes time to indulge in favourite pastimes of writing and painting.
