About the Book :

The North East has always stood out as a unique land within India that has been isolated and has braved enormous troubles. A land of many castes, tribes, traditions and cultures, these states reflect individual stands intrinsically woven into a fabric that stands out for its unusual beauty. The people of these states have a tale of their own, heavily influenced by their history and the geographical realities. The inclement weather and tough living conditions have added a special spirit in the people of North East. The author dreamt of narrating the experiences of these very people through his photographs; so this is an outcome of his dream, a small endeavor to share their stories.

This book is a photojournalist`s account of the life in Northeast India. It has an amazing collection of photographs and it focuses on the region`s issues of insurgency, alienation and the long struggle of the people who are desperately fighting for an identity

About Author :

DILIP BANERJEE is a leading photojournalist in the Indian visual media space. With his love for the camera and a quest for great photography, he has come a long way from being just a freelance photographer almost three decades ago. Over the years, Banerjee has worked with several leading media publications from the Times of India group to the Living Media, Anand Bazar Patrika among others. He has travelled extensively both within the length and breadth of the country and abroad. Dilip`s work has taken him to challenging locales, from war zones to areas of natural disaster where man fought the fury of nature, from the battleground in Kargil, to insurgency hit Mizoram, to the ethnic strife-ridden Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. If news assignments took him to such lands where chasing stories against deadlines was a challenge, in others he expanded his horizons and broadened his canvas of work, like his travails across the Stilwell Road or his expedition to Central Asia and Gaza. The diverse and rich explorations only added to his depth and passion.
